The mission of the Central American Historical and Ancestral Society (CAHAAS) of California is to promote an understanding of Central America's rich and dynamic history, culture, and its people's contributions within and beyond its national borders through an easily accessible digital platform where stories, art, history, and culture can be collected, preserved, and shared with all.
We preserve Central American heritage through the collection, preservation and exhibition of Central American related historical documents, artifacts, photographs, and stories. We conduct oral histories and create web videos focused on bridging the cultural knowledge gap that leads to biased narratives, stereotypes, racism, and systemic inequalities.
Your support from either, donations or submissions, will fund a much needed community-based archive that will ultimately change perspectives and behaviors towards the Central American diaspora; you will help minimize the biased narratives, stereotypes, racism and inequality that plague our society.
