Carlos Antonio Pineda
In 1923, ballet dancer Carlos Antonio Pineda immigrated from El Salvador to San Francisco in his teens. He went on to perform with the burgeoning San Francisco Ballet Company between 1932 – 1939, and in Hollywood's musical films like Down Argentine Way–preserved in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
